Marissa Rogers, DO – Program Director

About Me: Hi and welcome to the Ascension Genesys Family Medicine Program! We are so excited that you are considering our program as the residency for your medical training! To tell you a little about myself and what I love about this program, I will start with the fact that I was actually an MSUCOM base medical student at Genesys and completed my residency training in the program I now lead! After residency, I practiced Family Medicine in private practice, then returned to Genesys a a full time faculty member for the FM program. In 2011, I took over as Co-Director, and in 2015, became sole Program Director. I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to lead residents through their final clinical years of training. I often am asked what I am most proud of in regards to our program and that can easily be answered with, our residents. By far, they are the kindest, most caring individuals you will meet, who work so hard and support each other through the years.

Throughout the years I have been a Program Director, I have also been actively involved with our state and national organizations. I served as President of MAOFP and continue to serve on several committees now for them as a past president. I was the Vice-Chair for the Committee on Osteopathic Recognition and Development for ACOFP, until I was nominated and accepted as a member of the ACGME FM RC. The past year being part of the ACGME FM RC has been
amazing working with talented physician leaders and being a part of helping programs move forward with improvements for resident learners. I also love to present at conferences, local, regional, and national, and participate as a trainer for the OMT bootcamp at ACOFP conferences.

When I am not at work with my 39 kids, you can usually find me at some type of sporting event or school function for my 4 kids at home. I have twin sons that will be starting their senior year of high school, a son who will be starting his sophomore year, and a daughter who will be entering 5th grade. During the stress of the pandemic, we also welcomed a puppy into our home, Murray, who has been loving us and keeping us very very busy!

Personally, I love reading, listening to true crime podcasts, playing games with my kids, traveling, training my puppy to hopefully reach therapy dog status, enjoying new foods, baking, and coffee. So much coffee. 🙂 I look forward to meeting you and hopefully getting the chance to help lead you through your residency training. Teaching is our passion- we believe in supported learning, with high expectations of patient centered care. Thank you so much again for looking into our program- we hope this site gives you some insight into all we have to offer!
